John William Sturn, known as Jack, established Jack’s Lawn Service, Inc. in February of 1977. He was born and raised in Monroe. He is the middle son of Warren J. and Mary T. (Rappold) Sturn. Jack is married to the former Christina M. Phillips and has three children. Their three children, Paula, Jason, and Anna are involved within the business, as well as his sister.
Jack started off at the early age of 12 with one mower and a bicycle. After graduating from Monroe High School in 1973, he went to work at the Monroe Ford Motor company for a short period of time. Jack decided that working on a production line was not for him. He left Ford and created Jack’s Lawn Service, Inc.
Jack began his business by working out of an old Quonset hut behind Pete’s Icehouse on Front St., which is now River Bend Commons. As the business grew and more room was needed, Jack’s Lawn Service, Inc. moved to its current location in 1986. A new addition was completed in 2006. This addition houses a new Power Equipment showroom, along with new offices.
Jack’s Lawn Service, Inc. is not your typical lawn service.
